What’s happening at Blackbird Leys?
Swimming pool demolition
Hill have moved their site offices to the area that will form part of the new public realm. We are pleased to report the demolition of the old swimming pool is about to start with the stripping out of the building. This is an important milestone for the project as it allows construction of the new Community Centre to start.
Highways work
Hill have appointed a new sub- contractor. The new tarmac road in front of the shops has been laid and this new road is now open with two-way traffic lights.
They are hoping to have the junction between Blackbird Leys Road and Knights Road open by the end of the year. We will continue to share highway updates as the works continue.
When will construction be complete?
- Community centre: The new community centre is currently under construction.
- Knights Road homes: The new homes will be completed in phases with the last of the new homes expected to be finished towards the end of this year.
- Chestnut Tower (Block D): This block is nearly ready, with completion planned for early summer.
- Cherry Tree Tower (Block A): Construction is underway and is expected to be finished at the end of 2027.
